Role Description The Automation Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Chennai Area. This role oversees the design, implementation, and optimization of automation systems in manufacturing operations, ensuring improved productivity, safety, and quality. The Automation Manager collaborates with cross-functional teams to identify automation opportunities, develop project plans, supervise installation and commissioning, and maintain existing automated lines and equipment. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring system performance, troubleshooting technical issues, coordinating with vendors and integrators, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal policies. The role also involves training plant personnel on automated processes, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and supporting strategic investments in new technologies aligned with business goals.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong skills in industrial automation design, PLC programming, SCADA/HMI configuration, and integration of sensors and control systems.
- Candidates should possess skills in manufacturing process optimization, lean principles, and continuous improvement methodologies to enhance throughput and reduce downtime.
- Candidates should possess skills in project management, including planning, budgeting, vendor coordination, and timely execution of automation projects.
- Candidates should possess skills in data analysis and reporting, using production and maintenance data to drive decisions and performance improvements.
- Candidates should possess strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with engineering, production, maintenance, and external partners.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
- Relevant experience in plant automation within automotive or heavy manufacturing environments is highly beneficial.
- Knowledge of safety standards, quality systems, and compliance requirements in industrial settings is advantageous.
