Job Summary
We are looking for a highly skilled Automation Expert with strong experience in Bar Mill and Rod Mill processes. The candidate must have deep expertise in industrial automation, PLC/SCADA software development, process optimization, and analytical problem-solving.
This role demands a professional who can understand metallurgical processes, optimize mill performance, and ensure seamless automation execution.
Key Responsibilities
1. Automation System Design & Development
Develop and modify PLC/SCADA programs for rolling mill automation
Work on platforms like Siemens (S7-300/400/1500, TIA Portal, WinCC), Rockwell Automation, or equivalent
Design automation logic for bar mill and rod mill operations
2. Process Understanding & Optimization
Analyze and optimize rolling mill processes (roughing, intermediate, finishing stands)
Improve mill productivity, yield, and quality
Monitor process parameters such as speed, temperature, tension, and loop control
3. Software Development & Analysis
Strong hands-on experience in:
PLC programming
HMI/SCADA development
Drive integration (VFDs, DC drives)
Develop diagnostic tools and performance monitoring systems
Perform root cause analysis of process and automation failures
4. Commissioning & Troubleshooting
Lead automation commissioning for new and retrofit projects
Troubleshoot breakdowns and minimize downtime
Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, and production teams
5. Data-Driven Decision Making
Analyze production data and generate actionable insights
Implement improvements using data analytics and automation logic
Support digitalization and Industry 4.0 initiatives
6. Documentation & Standardization
Prepare technical documents, SOPs, and control philosophies
Ensure standardization across automation systems
Maintain backup and version control of software
Key Skills Required
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of:
Rolling mill automation (Bar & Rod Mill mandatory)
PLC/SCADA systems (Siemens preferred)
Drives (Siemens / ABB / Rockwell)
Industrial communication protocols (Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP)
Understanding of metallurgical processes and mill operations

Preferred Qualifications
B.E./B.Tech in Electrical / Instrumentation / Automation Engineering
