CIM / OT Automation Engineer (Manufacturing & Control Systems)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced CIM / OT Engineer (Computer Integrated Manufacturing / Operational Technology) to support reliable, compliant manufacturing operations in a regulated environment. This role plays a key part in automation software development, commissioning, validation support, and lifecycle management of control systems used in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
You will work closely with global automation teams to implement standards, deliver robust solutions, and support the production of life-changing medicines.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement automation system modifications based on P&IDs, URS, and mechanical drawings
- Develop and execute test plans to verify software fitness for use
- Commission control systems and support validation activities
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot PLCs, SCADA, drives, servo, and vision systems
- Maintain software/hardware configurations, backups, documentation, and revision history
- Provide accurate effort estimates for control software development tasks
- Collaborate with global automation teams on standards, technologies, and best practices
- Communicate progress and risks; provide rotational after-hours operational support
- Coach plant teams on safe, compliant automation practices
Required Experience & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Robotics
- 4+ years experience in a manufacturing environment with automation systems
- Strong proficiency in Siemens PLC programming (STL, SCL, FBD, LAD)
- Hands-on experience with SCADA, drives, servo systems, and industrial networks
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings
- Knowledge of SDLC, functional/design specifications (FS/DS), and test plan development
- Strong project management, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
