With more than 7,000 employee-owners, Austin Industries provides nearly every type of civil, commercial and industrial construction services through the expertise of our operating companies: Austin Bridge & Road, Austin Commercial and Austin Industrial.

Austin Industries has an outstanding opportunity for a Senior IT Software Developer at our corporate headquarters in Dallas, Texas. Our Senior IT Software Developer will be trusted to assess existing systems, propose improvements, and design new capabilities.  This person will work on systems that integrate with internal databases, external services, and cloud infrastructure, and you’ll be involved in the full lifecycle of each application—from initial design and development through deployment, support, and iterative improvement.   This is a hands-on role in a small, collaborative team, where technical decisions matter, the work has immediate impact, and pragmatic decision making is expected and valued.

Functional Areas of Responsibility:

  • Line-of-business web applications built in C# (.NET Framework and .NET), .NET MAUI (for mobile platforms) and Python
  • REST APIs and backend services that integrate with SQL Server and internal systems
  • Single-page applications and UI components built with Vue.js and ASP.NET
  • Cloud-hosted services running in Azure App Services, with supporting jobs, functions, and storage
  • CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments using Azure DevOps

Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of internal applications across their full lifecycle: design, development, deployment, and support
  • Maintain and enhance existing systems while developing new functionality and services
  • Work directly with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions
  • Develop new, internal applications that address critical business and technical issues
  • Design clean, maintainable APIs and data models with long-term support in mind
  • Write efficient, well-structured SQL (queries, stored procedures, performance tuning)
  • Ensure solutions meet standards for performance, reliability, and security
  • Participate in architectural discussions and help guide technical direction
  • Contribute to and improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and engineering practices
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Strong experience with C# (either .NET Framework, modern .NET, or both)
  • Strong experience with Python
  • Solid SQL Server skills (schema design, querying, stored procedures, optimization)
  • Front-end development experience with Vue.js or similar SPA frameworks
  • Comfort working across the entire stack and transitioning between technologies as needed.
  • Strong technical leadership skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills, with a strong focus on building and maintaining positive relationships internally and externally
  • Have strong attention to detail and accuracy while managing multiple priorities under stress
  • Able to prioritize tasks and projects effectively, with excellent time management, organization, and prioritization skills to accomplish desired results

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
  • 5+ years of full-stack software development experience
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work for ANY employer in the United States. Austin Industries is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position.
