About the Role
The AV technician is responsible for installing, configuring, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting audio-visual systems at client sites, offices, conferences, and events. The role requires hands-on technical expertise in AV equipment, strong problem-solving abilities, and direct interaction with clients to ensure smooth operation and high-quality AV experiences.
Responsibilities
Installation & Setup
Install, configure, and test AV systems, including projectors, displays, microphones, speakers, video walls, control systems, and conferencing solutions.
Perform wiring, calibration, and integration of AV components according to project specifications.
Configure video conferencing and collaboration platforms such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
Assemble and integrate control systems like Crestron, Q-SYS, AMX, and Extron.
AV Operations & Technical Support
Operate AV systems during meetings, conferences, live events, and presentations.
Conduct sound checks, video testing, and live-event technical support.
Troubleshoot audio, video, lighting, and connectivity issues quickly during events or installations.
Provide on-site support to clients and internal teams to ensure uninterrupted AV performance.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on AV equipment.
Diagnose and resolve hardware/software issues related to AV systems.
Monitor equipment performance and carry out upgrades or replacements when required.
Maintain inventory and ensure all equipment is functional and properly stored.
Client & Team Coordination
Coordinate with event planners, project managers, IT teams, and clients to understand AV requirements.
Provide end-user training on AV system operation and basic troubleshooting.
Communicate technical solutions clearly to non-technical users.
Ensure all work is completed according to timelines and company standards.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain records of installations, maintenance schedules, repairs, and configurations.
Prepare event setup documentation and post-event technical reports.
Submit work logs, calibration data, and project completion updates.
Safety & Compliance
Follow safety procedures during installation and operation of AV systems.
Ensure all equipment connections and installations are secure and compliant with industry standards.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace at client sites and event venues.
Technology Upgrades & Innovation
Stay updated with emerging AV technologies and AV-over-IP solutions.
Recommend improvements and assist in procurement of new AV equipment and software.
Qualifications
Education
A diploma/degree in audio-visual technology, electronics, IT, or a related field is preferred.
AV certifications are an added advantage.
Experience
2–4 years of experience in AV installation, operation, maintenance, or technical support roles.
