About the role

We are seeking an Optical Engineer to join our team in Boulder, CO. As an Optical Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of optical systems for our quantum computing platform. This will involve working closely with our quantum engineering and theory teams to create and characterize the optical components and systems that are critical to the operation of our quantum computers. In this role, you will: - Design and develop optical components and systems for quantum computing applications - Perform optical simulations and modeling to optimize system performance - Implement and test optical systems, including alignment, calibration, and troubleshooting - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate optical systems into the overall quantum computing platform - Contribute to the development of new optical technologies and techniques to push the boundaries of quantum computing Qualifications: - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Optical Engineering, Photonics, or a related field - 3+ years of experience in the design, development, and testing of optical systems - Strong understanding of optical principles, including geometric optics, wave optics, and fiber optics - Proficiency in optical simulation and modeling tools (e.g., Zemax, OpticStudio, COMSOL) - Experience with the characterization and testing of optical components and systems - Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills - Strong communication and collaboration skills - Interest in and understanding of quantum computing and its applications
