About the Department
Faculty members are primarily teachers and are responsible for the preparation and implementation of assigned courses. The college expects faculty members to expend about three-quarters of their time in teaching responsibilities
Position Duties
- Develops, implements, evaluates, and revises the nursing program curriculum in accordance with accreditation requirements and national nursing standards.
- Teaches and coordinates activities related to the nursing program, including classroom and clinical instruction to include the skill laboratory, simulation lab, and clinical practice sites.
- Participates in reviewing and instituting new nursing sites for clinical practice.
- Maintains competency in all designated teaching areas by participating in continuing education programs to maintain expertise in nursing theory and practice.
- Maintains a professional attitude as an individual and as a faculty member. Mentors part time nursing faculty. Serves as a role model for nursing students.
- Evaluates nursing students in both the classroom and the clinical areas and provides recommendations on progression and retention.
- Maintains office hours as per the faculty contract for student consultation at times convenient to students. Advises nursing program students and college-wide nursing and allied health students on course selection and progression. Provides professional and academic assistance to nursing program assigned advisees.
- Participates in college, department, and nursing faculty committee meetings. Accepts contributory and leadership roles in committee service. Fulfills duties and responsibilities as required for the ongoing maintenance of state and national program accreditation.
- Participates in the recruitment and retention of nursing and allied health students.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Master's degree in Nursing
- License to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Jersey
- Master's degree in Nursing Education preferred
Experience:
- Minimum two years of clinical experience caring for adult clients
- Minimum two years teaching experience preferred
- Experience with the program accreditation process preferred
- Psychiatric or behavioral health experience is preferred
Competencies and Skills Required:
- Ability to teach in all areas of nursing
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
