ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with day-to-day operations of the ASI Food Pantry
- Provides an inviting atmosphere for the pantry users
- Uses OneCard system to verify eligibility according to the guidelines
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality and respect for the pantry users
- Refers students to additional resources as needed
- Maintains food safety standards while working in the food pantry
- Assists with maintaining and stocking food pantry shelves and the food pantry storage room
- Supports ASI Food Pantry events with set-up and take-down
- Works in partnership with the Food Pantry Assistants, volunteers, and interns in maintaining day-to-day operations and developing educational programs for the students
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse student population, ASI programs, and on-campus departments
- Other duties as assigned

Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Enrolled in a minimum of 6 units at Sacramento State; maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA overall
- Possess or ability to obtain ServSafe Food Handlers Certification within the first two weeks of employment (cost covered by ASI)
- Experience on windows-based personal computers using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, and Power point
- Availability to work on days when the food pantry is open when classes are in session and during semester breaks • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
- Ability to stand, walk, touch, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear with or without accommodation • Regularly move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to reach overhead with or without accommodation
- A valid CA driver’s license
Summary
SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the Food Pantry Coordinator, the Food Pantry Assistant helps the ASI Food Pantry Coordinator with daily operations at the ASI Food Pantry, inclusive but not limited to stocking inventory, assisting food pantry users, assisting with donation drives, and working with Food Pantry staff, volunteers, and interns.
