About the Role
We are seeking a strategic, execution-focused leader to drive core service functions including Payroll, Benefits Administration, HR Compliance, and Client Services for our ASO/PEO payroll software platform. Departmental oversight may flex based on individual strengths and evolving business needs. This role is critical to scaling operations, improving service delivery, and ensuring a seamless client experience. The ideal candidate brings deep domain expertise, a track record of driving operational excellence, and the ability to align teams, technology, and processes in a high-growth environment.
Responsibilities
- Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead assigned business units with a focus on improving employee retention, reducing attrition, and creating a high-performance, inclusive team culture.
- Build and manage teams to deliver consistent service quality and high client satisfaction across all touchpoints.
- Identify and resolve issues across people, processes, or product areas that impact performance, team morale, or customer outcomes.
- Use tools like skill matrices, IDPs, and PIPs to support individual growth, close capability gaps, and strengthen overall team effectiveness.
- Operational Excellence & Process Improvement:
- Collaborate with global cross-functional teams and regional leaders to identify and implement process improvements and controls that enhance service quality and ensure consistency across all locations.
- Optimize resource allocation across teams and workflows to maximize efficiency and meet business objectives.
- Lead special projects in collaboration with onshore and offshore stakeholders, including any major product or software migrations while ensuring smooth transitions that minimize service disruptions and maintain client trust.
- Prioritize continuous skill development and professional growth to boost team capabilities and overall performance.
- Ensure accurate and timely delivery of key operational data such as performance reviews, skill matrices, development plans, and productivity reports, to support informed decision-making and accountability.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to address potential operational challenges and ensure business continuity.
- Client Success & Service Delivery:
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular engagement, proactive communication, and participation in client review meetings; manage escalations to ensure timely and satisfactory resolution.
- Drive compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) across assigned business units, ensuring operational support consistently meets or exceeds client contract requirements.
- Develop, implement, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain quality, consistency, and operational excellence within service teams.
- Proactively identify and communicate project risks or roadblocks to senior leadership, develop mitigation plans, and escalate critical issues to prevent service disruptions and maintain stakeholder trust.
- Identify and analyze trends for assigned business units and suggest best practices from a compliance standpoint.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Operations Management, or a related field required; MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 8 years of progressive leadership experience in operations, preferably within HR services, payroll, PEO, or SaaS environments. Proven success in scaling operations and leading organizational change, ideally in fast-paced, high-growth companies.
- Domain Expertise: Strong knowledge of U.S. payroll, benefits administration, global tax regulations, and client service operations preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with ERP, HRMS, HRIS platforms, and Microsoft Office suite highly desirable.
- Certifications: Relevant professional certifications (e.g., PMP, SHRM, Six Sigma, HRCI) are a plus.
