About hoichoi
hoichoi is India's leading Bengali OTT platform and the digital arm of SVF — Eastern India's No.1 media and entertainment company. We stream 650+ Bengali films, 185+ originals, and 3,000+ hours of content to approximately 250 million Bengali speakers worldwide.
What you'll do
You will be the operational backbone of the hoichoi product team — the person who makes sure the machine runs smoothly so that PMs and engineers can focus on building. This is a high-trust, high-visibility role that sits at the intersection of product, data, and cross-functional coordination.
- Own the product team's operational rhythms — sprint planning support, roadmap tracking, release notes, and meeting documentation — so nothing falls through the cracks.
- Maintain and continuously improve the product backlog in Jira or equivalent: triage incoming requests, enforce prioritisation hygiene, and flag blockers to the GM – Product before they become fires.
- Build and maintain dashboards that give the product team real-time visibility into key metrics — activation rates, feature adoption, churn signals, and sprint velocity.
- Drive cross-functional coordination across engineering, content, marketing, and CX — own follow-ups, track decisions, and close the loop on action items from planning sessions.
- Lead lightweight process improvement initiatives: identify friction points in how the product team works, propose and pilot solutions, and measure their impact.
- Support OKR tracking for the product function — help PMs articulate outcomes, maintain the OKR log, and prepare inputs for quarterly reviews.
- Manage vendor and tool evaluations: research options, run structured pilots, and prepare clear recommendations with trade-offs for the GM – Product.
- Use AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Notion AI, Perplexity) to synthesise research, generate first-draft documents, and surface insights from large data sets — always validating and refining the output.
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in product operations, business analysis, project coordination, or a generalist startup ops role — you have owned deliverables, not just assisted.
- Strong structured thinking: you break ambiguous problems into clear components, identify the right question to answer first, and communicate your reasoning simply.
- Data fluency: comfortable building dashboards in Metabase, Looker, or equivalent; can write basic SQL queries or learn quickly; interprets charts accurately and asks the right follow-up question.
- Excellent written communication: you write clear, concise documents — specs, trackers, post-mortems, summaries — that people actually read and act on.
- Cross-functional reliability: teams you work with know that if you said you will follow up, you will; if you said something will be done by Friday, it will be done by Friday.
- AI-native operator: you use AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Notion AI, or similar) to summarise data, draft documents, and explore process improvements — and you know how to verify and correct AI outputs before they leave your desk.
Good to Have
- Experience at a consumer internet, OTT, media, or entertainment company — you understand subscription products and content-driven businesses.
- Familiarity with product analytics tools (Mixpanel, Amplitude, Clevertap) and what good event tracking looks like.
- Working knowledge of Jira, Confluence, Notion, or similar product tooling — bonus if you have administered or improved a team's Jira setup.
Culture & How We Work
At hoichoi, the best idea wins, not the biggest title. We operate in small, cross-functional teams where content, product, growth, and tech sit close together, argue productively, and occasionally steal each other's snacks. It's a lot like a kitchen during a house party: slightly chaotic, everyone's doing three things at once, but somehow the food comes out great.
Ownership here isn't a buzzword; it's the default setting. If something's broken, you don't file a ticket and wait. You're the person who notices the printer is jammed and just fixes it instead of pretending you didn't see it. We ship fast, measure what works, and iterate. Think less 'perfect deck' and more 'let's see if real viewers actually care.'
When big moments arrive, we stretch. But we're equally serious about keeping the pace sustainable, because burnt-out teams build neither great products nor great stories. If that sounds like your kind of chaos, we should talk.
