Role Overview
InventIP Legal Services LLP is seeking a Patent Search and Analytics Associate with a background in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), Chemistry, Materials, Polymers, IT, or related fields, and up to 2 years of relevant experience (freshers may apply).
The role involves conducting patent searches, analysing technical inventions, and delivering comprehensive search and analytics reports to support global clients across diverse technology domains.

Job Description
The Patent Search & Analytics Associate will work closely with IP professionals to support intellectual property research and technology intelligence activities across engineering and science domains. This position is ideal for candidates interested in patents, innovation analysis, and applied technical research.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform patentability, invalidity, freedom-to-operate (FTO), and landscape searches
- Analyse inventions and prior art across mechanical, electronics, chemistry, materials, and polymer technologies
- Interpret patent claims, specifications, and technical disclosures
- Prepare clear, concise, and well-structured search and analytics reports
- Use global patent databases such as Patsnap, PatSeer, Google Patents, Espacenet, and similar tools
- Support senior team members with technology landscaping, competitive intelligence, and IP analysis
Requirements
- B.E./ B.Tech or M.E./ MTech in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE)
- Chemistry / Materials Science / Polymer Engineering
- Information Technology / Computer Science
- or related technical disciplines
- 0–2 years of experience in patent search and analytics (freshers are welcome)
- Strong understanding of core engineering or scientific concepts in the relevant domain
- Familiarity with global patent databases and search tools
- Good analytical, interpretation, and technical writing skills
- Ability to understand complex inventions and translate them into structured reports
- Strong educational background with sound domain knowledge
Preferred Skills
- Prior exposure to intellectual property, patent research, or innovation analytics
- Basic understanding of patent laws, claims, and specifications
- Attention to detail and ability to work across multiple technologies
- Strong learning attitude and interest in the Intellectual Property field.
