About The Role
We are seeking a strategic and dynamic Marketing Leader to join Abbott Laboratories’ India leadership team. This role is pivotal in shaping and executing the marketing strategy for the local market, ensuring alignment with global and regional objectives while driving sustainable business growth. The successful candidate will oversee all marketing activities, including healthcare professional (HCP) engagement, consumer marketing, digital initiatives, customer relationship management (CRM), and customer experience enhancement. This position requires a visionary leader capable of inspiring teams, fostering innovation, and building strong external partnerships.
The Marketing Director will lead the development and implementation of integrated marketing plans, leveraging insights and analytics to optimize performance. They will act as a key representative in global and regional marketing discussions, advocating for local market needs and ensuring strategies are effectively tailored. The role demands a collaborative approach, working closely with cross-functional teams such as sales, medical, and commercial to ensure cohesive and impactful marketing execution. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for managing marketing budgets, driving ROI, and leading innovation initiatives to ensure Abbott’s brands maintain a competitive edge in the marketplace.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Science, or related fields; an MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
- 10 to 15 years of relevant experience in marketing or brand management, preferably within the pharmaceutical, medical device, or consumer health sectors.
- Proven track record of developing and executing integrated, omni-channel marketing strategies.
- Minimum of 5 years of managerial experience with demonstrated leadership skills, including team motivation, coaching, and development.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, PowerBI) and CRM platforms such as Veeva Vault and Salesforce.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute long-term marketing strategies aligned with Abbott’s global and regional objectives, tailored to the Indian market.
- Lead and mentor the marketing team, setting clear goals, tracking performance, and fostering continuous professional development.
- Collaborate with affiliate leadership and cross-functional stakeholders including Commercial, Sales, and Medical teams to ensure marketing efforts support business priorities.
- Oversee marketing budget allocation, ensuring strategic investments that maximize business growth and ROI.
- Drive marketing execution with innovation, ensuring the FreeStyle Libre brand achieves high market share and strong brand visibility.
- Track and analyze marketing performance metrics, leveraging insights to refine strategies and improve campaign effectiveness.
- Prepare and present marketing insights and strategic recommendations for annual planning, business reviews, and local business excellence (LBE) initiatives.
- Represent Abbott in area and global marketing discussions, advocating for local market needs and ensuring strategic alignment.
- Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory standards related to marketing activities.
- Build and maintain relationships with external partners such as advertising agencies, media outlets, and vendors to enhance marketing effectiveness.
- Lead innovation initiatives by piloting new marketing approaches and evaluating their scalability.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement within the marketing team.
