Position Overview
The Associate Manager, Technology, is responsible for delivering technology initiatives that support Room to Read’s global programs and operations. The role owns projects end-to-end, working with business stakeholders to define requirements, guide solution design, and ensure successful delivery.
Acting as a bridge between technical teams and non-technical partners, the Associate Manager translates business needs into clear technical plans, provides delivery and architectural oversight, and ensures solutions are secure, scalable, and sustainable. The role also supports the integration of cloud-based and AI-enabled solutions into business processes.
This position reports to the Senior Director, Global Technology and requires strong project ownership, technical judgment, and the ability to work effectively across a global, matrixed organization.
Responsibilities
End-to-End Technology Project Delivery
- Own assigned technology initiatives from scoping and planning through development, testing, deployment, and stabilization.
- Manage project plans, timelines, dependencies, risks, and deliverables to ensure on-time, on-scope execution.
Business Requirements & Technical Translation
- Partner with global and regional business stakeholders to understand needs and priorities.
- Translate functional and operational requirements into clear technical specifications, user stories, and execution plans for technology team and partners.
Solution Architecture & Technical Oversight
- Contribute to solution designs to ensure scalability, security, performance, and alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
- Provide technical input across system design, APIs, integrations, cloud services, and data flows.
AI / ML & Innovation Enablement
- Support delivery of solutions that incorporate AI/ML, automation, and data-driven components.
- Ensure responsible integration of AI solutions, including governance, data quality, validation, and alignment with business processes.
Stakeholder, Risk & Delivery Management
- Act as the primary liaison between IT teams, business stakeholders, and external partners.
- Proactively manage risks, communicate trade-offs, support UAT and change management, and ensure smooth handover to operations and support teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related technical field.
- 5–8 years of progressive experience in technology delivery, including project or product management and software development environments.
- Proven ability to manage end-to-end technology projects with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
- Strong experience translating business requirements into technical specifications and delivery plans.
- Solid understanding of system architecture, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), APIs, and integrations.
- Hands-on technical foundation, with experience in at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., React, Python, Java, SQL).
- Foundational knowledge of AI/ML concepts, data pipelines, and how AI solutions are integrated into business workflows.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical teams.
- Experience working in Agile or hybrid delivery environments; PMP, Agile, or Scrum certification preferred.
- Ability to operate effectively in a global, matrixed organization and manage delivery across regions and partners.
- Full professional proficiency in English
