About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Associate Director – HVAC (MEP) to lead the design, execution, and delivery of advanced HVAC solutions for large-scale retail, hospitality, and mixed-use infrastructure projects.
This role requires a strategic engineering leader with deep expertise in sustainable building systems, global HVAC standards, and multidisciplinary project coordination. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical capability with leadership excellence to drive high-quality, energy-efficient, and compliant HVAC engineering solutions across complex projects.
Key Responsibilities
HVAC Engineering & System Design
- Lead the design and development of HVAC systems for large-scale retail, hospitality, commercial, and infrastructure projects.
- Perform detailed heating and cooling load calculations and develop optimized HVAC system designs.
- Drive implementation of sustainable, energy-efficient, and high-performance HVAC solutions aligned with global best practices.
- Ensure designs comply with ASHRAE standards, local regulations, and international engineering codes.
Project Leadership & Delivery
- Lead mid- to large-scale HVAC projects from concept design through execution and commissioning.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including architecture, electrical, plumbing, structural, and construction stakeholders to ensure seamless project integration.
- Develop engineering budgets, schedules, resource plans, and execution strategies for complex projects.
- Monitor project progress to ensure timely delivery, quality compliance, and cost optimization.
Technical Excellence & Innovation
- Stay updated with emerging technologies, smart building systems, and sustainable engineering practices.
- Evaluate and implement innovative HVAC technologies to improve efficiency, performance, and operational sustainability.
- Provide technical leadership for engineering studies, system evaluations, and design optimization initiatives.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Conduct rigorous quality control reviews of HVAC designs, drawings, calculations, and technical documentation.
- Approve and sign off on critical engineering deliverables and design submissions.
- Ensure strict adherence to local building regulations, safety standards, and international compliance frameworks.
- Conduct site visits, inspections, and technical assessments to review existing systems and recommend improvements.
Stakeholder Management & Business Support
- Present technical solutions and project strategies to clients, consultants, and executive stakeholders.
- Support proposal development, technical presentations, and project bidding activities.
- Collaborate with business development and leadership teams to strengthen client relationships and project opportunities.
Team Leadership & Mentorship
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and project teams on advanced HVAC design principles and engineering best practices.
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Drive capability development within the HVAC and MEP engineering teams.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 15+ years of experience in HVAC design and engineering for large-scale projects.
- Strong expertise in retail, hospitality, commercial, and mixed-use infrastructure projects.
- Deep understanding of HVAC systems, load calculations, ventilation strategies, and sustainable building solutions.
- Strong working knowledge of ASHRAE standards, local building codes, and international engineering standards.
- Proficiency in HVAC design tools and software including AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and Trane TRACE.
- Experience managing mid- to large-scale projects across international standards including UK, UAE, US, Canada, and ANZ regions.
- Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Professional Engineering (PE) certification or equivalent credentials preferred.
