Job Description Key Responsibilities and Outcomes
Production & Delivery Management:
• Use custom software tools to design PV ground mounted and roof top systems which consist of battery systems (AC and DC coupled), existing systems, ballast systems, tilt kit systems, micro and string inverter systems, etc.
• Perform accurate system sizing calculations.
• Determining the type of interconnection according to the standards and also wire size calculations.
Create electrical single-line diagrams/3-line diagrams, panel schedules, or connection diagrams for solar electric systems, using computer-aided design (CAD) .
• Develop optimal designs with conduit and wire scheduling, voltage drop analysis, routing and equipment plans.
Execute designs that adhere to grid compliance and permitting requirements .
• Design Evaluation: Conduct meticulous and thorough assessment of photovoltaic engineering designs using AutoCAD, encompassing diverse aspects such as site layouts, property blueprints, array configurations, electrical single and three-line diagrams, and equipment elevations. Ensure the accuracy, coherence, and optimization of these designs in alignment with project specifications.
• Efficiency Enhancement: Identify opportunities for improving the efficiency and performance of photovoltaic systems within the design. Collaborate with the team to suggest innovative design modifications, layout adjustments, or component selections that contribute to enhanced energy output and overall system efficacy.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain meticulous documentation of design evaluations, revisions, and improvement recommendations. Generate comprehensive reports outlining design assessments, including any design modifications or enhancements proposed. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, providing clear and concise communication regarding design findings and solutions to ensure seamless project execution.
• Creation of bill of Materials: Developing detailed bills of material based on system specifications.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure the highest level of design quality and accuracy in all solar projects. This involves meticulously reviewing and validating design plans, layouts, and technical documentation to guarantee compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company guidelines.
• Timeline Management: Oversee project timelines and milestones, meticulously tracking progress and ensuring that projects stay on schedule. Proactively identify potential delays and implement effective strategies to mitigate them, keeping projects running smoothly and efficiently.
• Work cross-functionally with management teams to ensure clients' needs and internal deadlines are met Mentoring newly joined design trainees to improve their knowledge and skills.
Quality management:
• Should be able to do a quality checks.
• Should be able to create and/or follow using of checklists to maintain good quality and adhere to the process.
• Should be able to maintain quality and suggest actions for quality improvement.
Requirements
• Strong Aurora & 2D AutoCAD skills, knowledge of layer management, XREFs manipulation, etc.
• Strong knowledge of photovoltaic system design and optimizing system components for energy production.
• Basic understanding of drafting principles.
• Strong Math skills.
• Professional and efficient English verbal and written communication skills.
• High attention to detail and effective organization.
• Skill in reading, interpreting by referring related documents and drawings prepared by others.
• Strong knowledge of electrical design concepts.
Qualifications: Education, Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Behaviour) and Experience Minimum
Education Qualifications
• B.E. / B. Tech / Diploma in Engineering – Mechanical/Electrical/Civil
Competencies
• Essential familiarity with Solar Design specific to the US region.
• A strong understanding of industry standards and regulations related to photovoltaic systems is crucial including knowledge of codes such as NEC (National Electrical Code) and compliance with local Jurisdictional codes.
• Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Capability to work in multiple projects concurrently.
Experience
• 3 to 5 years of experience in CAD and Engineering services industry.
• Minimum 1 year of direct work experience in US Solar Design process will be an added advantage.
