Position: Associate – Data Privacy

Job Summary
We are seeking an Associate – Data Privacy to join our team specializing in technology, privacy, and regulatory advisory. The role involves advising a diverse portfolio of domestic and international clients on compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023 and other applicable privacy laws. The ideal candidate will support client engagements through privacy assessments, legal drafting, contract reviews, and practical regulatory advisory.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise clients on compliance with the DPDP Act, 2023 and other applicable privacy laws.
- Conduct privacy readiness, gap, and impact assessments (PIAs/DPIAs).
- Draft and review privacy policies, notices, Data Processing Agreements (DPAs), and technology contracts.
- Conduct legal research on emerging privacy and technology regulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on privacy, cybersecurity, and technology advisory engagements.
Experience
- 1–4 years of experience in data privacy, technology law, regulatory compliance, or information governance.
- Strong working knowledge of the DPDP Act, 2023 is essential.
- Exposure to GDPR or other global privacy frameworks is an advantage.
- Experience in a law firm, consulting firm, or corporate legal/compliance function is preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of the DPDP Act, 2023 and privacy principles.
- Familiarity with PIAs/DPIAs, data mapping, vendor privacy assessments, and privacy risk management.
- Excellent legal research, analytical, drafting, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- LL.B. is preferred. Candidates with relevant degrees in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Security, or related fields, coupled with privacy experience, will also be considered.
- Privacy certifications such as CIPP, CIPM, CIPT, DCPP, or equivalent are preferred.
