Role Description
Power BI Consultant
Experience
8+ years of experience in Data Analytics / Business Intelligence, with strong hands‑on expertise in Microsoft Power BI
Key Responsibilities
Requirements & Data Understanding
- Work with business stakeholders to understand reporting, analytics, and KPI requirements
- Translate business questions into data models and visualization requirements
- Perform data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies
Power BI Development
- Design and develop interactive Power BI reports and dashboards
- Build and optimize data models using Power BI Desktop
- Create measures and calculations using DAX
- Implement row‑level security (RLS) and report‑level security
- Ensure performance optimization of reports and datasets
Data Integration & Modeling
- Connect Power BI to multiple data sources (SQL Server, Excel, APIs, Azure, D365, etc.)
- Design semantic models, relationships, and data transformations using Power Query (M)
- Validate data accuracy, consistency, and completeness across sources [F&O - Data...Consultant | Word]
Governance, Deployment & Support
- Publish and manage reports in Power BI Service
- Configure workspaces, datasets, refresh schedules, and access controls
- Support UAT, production deployment, and hyper‑care
- Troubleshoot report, data, and performance issues
Stakeholder Enablement
- Conduct user walkthroughs and training sessions
- Create documentation and user guides
- Support self‑service BI adoption and best practices
Mandatory Skills
- Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft Power BI
- DAX, Power Query (M), and data modeling concepts
- SQL and relational database concepts
- Experience designing KPIs, dashboards, and analytical reports
- Data validation and reconciliation skills
Good to Have
- Experience with Dynamics 365 / Power Platform data
- Exposure to Azure Data Services (Azure SQL, Data Lake, Synapse)
- Power BI performance tuning and best practices
- Experience in BFSI, Retail, Manufacturing, or Enterprise analytics
Microsoft certification: PL‑300 (Power BI Data Analyst)
