About Basil Health AI
Basil Health AI is a wellness company built on neuroscience and artificial intelligence. We make it possible for individuals and organizations to truly understand their mental well-being — measuring stress, focus, anxiety, and relaxation through EEG technology and AI-powered insights.
We don't guess. We measure. Our approach has been validated by the Indian Army, IIT Kanpur, IIT Mandi, the University of Maryland, and Michigan State University. At Basil Health, we believe better mental wellness starts with better data — and we're building the products to prove it.
The Opportunity
This is a high-visibility role embedded directly within the leadership team. You will own our external intelligence function end-to-end — tracking competitors, decoding market shifts, and identifying whitespace opportunities. Your work will be read by founders, inform product decisions, and shape how Basil Health grows.
Responsibilities
Competitive Intelligence
- Build and maintain a structured competitor tracking system — monitoring product releases, funding, partnerships, and strategic positioning across the wellness and neurotech landscape
- Translate competitive signals into clear, actionable recommendations for product, GTM, and executive decisions
- Conduct win/loss analysis by synthesizing customer reviews, sales feedback, and public data to understand why prospects choose competitors
- Build executive-ready competitor profiles updated quarterly — covering strengths, weaknesses, pricing, and strategic intent
External Data Analysis
- Mine publicly available sources — app stores, wellness publications, industry reports, academic research, and social listening — to surface non-obvious insights
- Design research frameworks that convert unstructured information into decision-grade intelligence
- Identify adoption trends across consumer, corporate wellness, and clinical segments
- Develop and maintain a wellness market sizing model updated on a rolling basis
- Analyze partnership and distribution channel trends to identify how competitors are reaching customers
Trend & Regulatory Monitoring
- Track macro forces reshaping the wellness industry: AI, wearables, workplace mental health, mindfulness technology, and neuroscience commercialization
- Proactively flag relevant regulatory developments — FDA, CE, GDPR, HIPAA — before they become surprises
- Deliver concise, executive-ready trend briefings on a regular cadence
- Monitor academic and clinical research publications for emerging neuroscience and wellness breakthroughs with commercial potential
- Track competitor patent filings and R&D signals to anticipate future product directions
Opportunity Development
- Map whitespace across underserved segments, adjacent wellness verticals, and strategic partnership opportunities
- Build data-backed business cases with clear market sizing, assumptions, and rationale
- Collaborate with Product, Business Development, and Clinical teams to prioritize initiatives
- Lead primary research initiatives — surveys, expert interviews, and customer calls — to validate hypotheses before committing to business cases
- Identify geographic expansion opportunities by analyzing wellness market maturity across key markets
Executive Communication
- Produce board-quality memos, competitive landscapes, and market maps
- Present directly to senior leadership with clarity and a confident point of view
- Maintain a standing competitive intelligence newsletter distributed to the leadership team weekly
- Support fundraising and investor materials with market data, TAM/SAM/SOM analysis, and competitive positioning
Strategic Projects
- Support the CEO on ad hoc strategic initiatives — partnership due diligence, market entry assessments, and board prep
- Act as connective tissue across Product, BD, and Clinical teams — ensuring strategy is consistently informed by market reality
Qualifications
- MBA from a top-tier program required
- 2–3 years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, investment banking, or consumer wellness / healthtech
- Prior Startup Experience-Plus point
- Exceptional written communication and executive presence
- Prior exposure to wellness, digital health, or consumer technology strongly preferred
Preferred
- Consulting background — McKinsey, BCG, Bain, or equivalent
- Familiarity with Crayon, Klue, Similarweb, or Crunchbase Pro
- Experience with NLP or LLM-based research tools
- Prior experience at a Series A–C high-growth company
