Role Description The Associate will work full time on-site at the firm’s Kolkata office. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting in legal research and drafting, preparing case papers and opinions, and supporting senior lawyers in litigation and non-litigation matters. The role involves reviewing and drafting contracts and other legal documents, coordinating with clients and external stakeholders, and ensuring accurate and timely documentation for court filings and transactions. The Associate will also help manage case files, track deadlines, and contribute to strategy discussions, maintaining high professional and ethical standards in all client work.
Qualifications
- Strong legal research and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret statutes, case law, and regulatory materials.
- Proficiency in legal drafting, including pleadings, contracts, opinions, and correspondence.
- Effective communication and client-handling skills, including clear written and spoken English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
- Organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple matters and meet strict deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively with partners and colleagues, as well as independently with minimal supervision.
- Bachelor’s degree in law (LL.B.) from a recognized institution; enrollment with the Bar Council is preferred.
- Interest or prior exposure to dispute resolution, real estate, and commercial matters is beneficial.
- High level of integrity, professional conduct, and commitment to continuous learning and development.
