Responsibilities

Workday Financials Expertise & Cross Vertical Leadership

  • Lead a cross functional Workday team including Financials configuration consultants, Integration developers, and Adaptive Planning specialists.
  • Drive hands on Workday Financials configuration and functional solutioning aligned with core accounting and financial processes (GL, accounting operations, reporting, controls).
  • Understand and guide solutions across other Workday verticals (HCM, Payroll, Integrations, Adaptive Planning) to ensure architectural consistency and cross functional alignment.
  • Translate complex business requirements into scalable Workday solutions with strong financial process alignment.
  • Support integrated planning and forecasting solutions using Workday Adaptive Planning.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and mentor teams on complex design decisions, ensuring accuracy and timely financial outcomes.

Leadership, Delivery Management & Capability Building

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the offshore Workday team — setting direction, ensuring accountability, and driving continuous skill growth.
  • Drive high quality delivery across enhancements, projects, production support, and cross functional initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for offshore delivery, resolving blockers, technical issues, and prioritization conflicts.
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure predictable, well governed execution with strong documentation and adherence to standards.
  • Build Workday capability within the team — establishing frameworks for learning, certification advancement, reusable assets, and standardization.
  • Proactively collaborate with business and onshore teams to understand demand pipelines and align resource planning and capability development.

Hands-On Contribution & Quality Assurance

  • Provide hands-on configuration for high complexity or high risk Workday Financials enhancements.
  • Perform rigorous configuration and code reviews, ensuring maintainability, performance, and alignment with architectural standards.
  • Define and enforce quality gates, coding standards, and review practices for the team.
  • Identify recurring issues or design gaps and drive systematic improvements to reduce production incidents.
  • Take end-to-end accountability for overall solution quality and stability of delivered Workday capabilities.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 10+ years of IT experience delivering enterprise applications, with at least 5+ years in Workday.
  • Deep hands-on expertise in Workday Financials configuration (mandatory).
  • Experience leading and managing offshore/global Workday delivery teams for 5+ years.
  • Exposure to other Workday verticals (HCM, Payroll, Adaptive Planning, Integrations) with ability to guide cross functional collaboration.
  • Solid understanding of financial and accounting processes and their alignment with enterprise systems.
  • Proven experience in delivery governance, code review, production support, and issue resolution.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile methodologies, and Jira-based execution.
  • Outstanding communication, stakeholder management, and interpersonal skills.

  • Facilitate clear communication across time zones, ensuring offshore delivery is seamlessly integrated with onshore planning.
  • Support client and stakeholder queries with clarity, strong functional understanding, and timely follow through.
  • Represent offshore delivery in governance forums, backlog discussions, and solution workshops.

SDLC, Agile & Delivery Governance

  • Ensure consistent application of SDLC, Agile practices, and enterprise delivery standards.
  • Partner with onshore teams on sprint planning, backlog management, refinements, and retrospectives.
  • Maintain high hygiene in tools such as Jira — acceptance criteria, estimates, traceability, and documentation.
  • Ensure release readiness with strong testing, validation, and change management discipline.
