We are seeking a talented individual to join our Energy team at Marsh Risk India, a Marsh business. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
Assistant Vice President / Vice President – Energy
We will count on you to:
Strategic Placement & Market Leadership
- Design and structure complex insurance programs for Energy assets (Property, Liability, Control of Well etc.).
- Lead high-level negotiations with client, insurers/reinsurers in domestic as well as international markets to secure optimal terms.
- Draft bespoke slip wordings and tailored clauses to address unique energy asset exposures and operational risks.
- Leverage market relationships to maximize placement capacity for challenging, high-value, or distressed risks.
Senior Client Advisory & Account Management
- Act as trusted advisor to risk managers, and energy sector firms.
- Drive the renewal strategy for major accounts, ensuring seamless execution from asset data aggregation to final placement.
- Deliver technical presentations comparing global market options, pricing metrics, and coverage structures.
- Identify upsell opportunities by advising clients on emerging risk profiles, regulatory shifts, and coverage gaps.
Technical Expertise & Risk Analysis
- Analyze engineering surveys, client profile, loss histories, and risk assessments to present profiles favorably to underwriters.
- Review policy interfaces to eliminate operational gaps between energy coverages.
- Oversee technical accuracy of slips, cover notes, premium allocations, and complex policy documentation.
Operations
- Collaborate with claims leaders on major, complex losses (e.g., energy asset damage) to ensure rapid client resolution.
- Monitor global trends, transition risk in energy, geopolitical shifts, and capacity changes to proactively advise the wider team
What you need to have:
Educational Background
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in risk management, Finance, Engineering, or related discipline.
Experience
- 5–10 years of dedicated experience in Energy insurance broking or underwriting or core industry experience working in the energy sector
- Core energy industry experience, Knowledge of energy Market Packages (e.g., WELCAR, operational property forms), Indian insurance regulatory framework for direct and reinsurance transactions.
- Market Gravitas: Proven ability to command respect and negotiate effectively with underwriters and client.
- Analytical Precision: Deep technical understanding of complex wording structures, multi-line programs, and risk engineering reports.
- Relationship Management: Outstanding interpersonal skills to cultivate long-term corporate client loyalty and manage internal stakeholders.
