Role Description The Assistant Vice President – Collections is a full-time, on-site role based in Bengaluru. This position leads and manages collection operations, including supervising collection teams, setting performance targets, and monitoring portfolio health. The role involves developing and implementing collection strategies, analyzing delinquency trends, and ensuring adherence to regulatory and company policies. The AVP – Collections will collaborate with risk, finance, legal, and customer service teams to optimize recovery rates and minimize losses, while maintaining fair and respectful treatment of customers. Daily responsibilities include reviewing collection metrics, preparing management reports, guiding team leads, resolving escalations, and driving process improvements and automation initiatives.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in collections management, credit control, or recovery operations, preferably in banking, financial services, or consumer lending.
- Strong leadership capabilities, including team management, performance coaching, and the ability to build an inclusive, high-performing work culture.
- Proficiency in using collection systems, CRM tools, and data analysis software to monitor portfolios, generate reports, and support decision-making.
- Solid understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements related to collections, customer communication standards, and fair practices.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret metrics, identify trends, and develop actionable strategies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage stakeholder expectations and handle customer escalations professionally.
- Proven experience in process optimization, automation initiatives, and implementing best practices in collection workflows.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field; professional certifications in credit or collections are an advantage.
- Ability to work on-site in Bengaluru, manage multiple priorities, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
