Job Purpose: To establish, implement, monitor, and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure that all corrugated boxes and packaging products meet customer specifications, company standards, and applicable regulatory requirements while minimizing defects and customer complaints.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Assurance
- Develop and implement quality policies, SOPs, and work instructions.
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards and customer quality requirements.
- Maintain and improve the Quality Management System (QMS).
2. Incoming Material Quality
- Inspect and approve incoming raw materials such as Kraft Paper, Starch, Adhesives, Inks, and other consumables.
- Coordinate with the Purchase Department regarding supplier quality issues.
- Monitor supplier quality performance.
3. In-Process Quality Control
- Ensure quality checks at Corrugation, Printing, Die Cutting, Slotting, Folding, Stitching, and Pasting processes.
- Monitor GSM, Burst Strength, Edge Crush Test (ECT), Box Compression Strength (BCT), Moisture, Bond Strength, and Dimensional Accuracy.
- Ensure process parameters remain within specified limits.
4. Final Product Inspection
- Verify finished products before dispatch.
- Ensure packaging, labeling, palletization, and customer specifications are met.
- Approve dispatch based on quality standards.
5. Customer Complaint Handling
- Investigate customer complaints using Root Cause Analysis (5 Why, Fishbone, etc.).
- Implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Reduce customer complaints through continuous improvement.
6. Documentation
- Maintain inspection reports, test reports, calibration records, SOPs, CAPA records, and audit documentation.
- Ensure complete traceability of products.
7. Testing Laboratory
- Manage laboratory equipment and testing activities.
- Ensure calibration of all measuring and testing instruments.
- Maintain accurate testing records.
8. Team Management
- Lead and train Quality Inspectors and QA/QC staff.
- Conduct regular skill development and quality awareness programs.
- Allocate work and monitor team performance.
9. Audits
- Conduct Internal Quality Audits.
- Support customer audits and certification audits.
- Ensure timely closure of audit observations.
10. Continuous Improvement
- Implement Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma, and other concepts wherever applicable.
- Analyze rejection data and improve First Pass Yield (FPY).
- Reduce process variation and wastage.
Experience
- 5–10 years in Corrugated Box Manufacturing or Packaging Industry.
- Experience in QA/QC systems, customer audits, and laboratory testing.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of corrugated box manufacturing processes.
- Understanding of GSM, BF, ECT, BCT, Cobb Test, Moisture Testing, and Box Performance Testing.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, CAPA, SPC, 7 QC Tools, Root Cause Analysis, 5 Why, Fishbone, and FMEA.
- Leadership, communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Good knowledge of MS Excel and ERP systems.
