Job Title: Asst Project Lead – Civil Engineering
Industry: Commercial Real Estate / Construction (Project Management Consultancy – PMC)
Role Overview / Purpose
The Senior Executive – Civil Engineering will be responsible for site-level execution, coordination, and quality oversight of large-scale commercial construction projects. Operating within a Project Management Consultancy (PMC) environment, the role focuses on ensuring that civil and structural works are delivered in accordance with approved designs, specifications, timelines, budgets, and safety standards for complex commercial developments.
Key Responsibilities
Construction Supervision & Execution
- Supervise day-to-day civil and structural construction activities at site for commercial projects.
- Ensure execution of works as per approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and construction schedules.
- Monitor progress of contractors and subcontractors to achieve milestone targets.
- Identify constructability issues and coordinate timely resolutions with stakeholders.
Quality Control & Safety Compliance
- Implement and monitor quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) procedures for civil works.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, relevant IS codes, and industry best practices.
- Conduct inspections, site audits, and snag closure related to RCC and structural works.
- Enforce adherence to approved safety plans, HSE norms, and statutory safety requirements at site.
Contractor & Consultant Coordination
- Coordinate with civil contractors, structural consultants, MEP teams, and other interfacing agencies.
- Review and validate contractor submissions including method statements, material submittals, and shop drawings.
- Facilitate technical discussions and resolve on-site execution issues collaboratively.
- Support the PMC leadership in contractor performance monitoring and coordination meetings.
Schedule Tracking & Reporting
- Track construction progress against baseline schedules and highlight delays or risks.
- Assist in preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
- Maintain accurate site records including work progress, inspections, and approvals.
- Support schedule recovery planning in coordination with planning and execution teams.
Drawings, BOQs & Documentation Review
- Review structural and civil drawings for constructability, coordination, and compliance.
- Assist in review of BOQs, quantity checks, and certification of running account (RA) bills.
- Verify measurements and work quantities executed at site.
- Maintain proper documentation for approvals, inspections, and handover records.
Technical Skills & Knowledge
- Strong hands-on experience in commercial construction projects such as office buildings, IT parks, malls, and mixed-use developments.
- Proven expertise in:
- Post-tensioned (PT) slab systems
- Diaphragm wall construction
- Waffle slab systems
- RCC works for high-rise and large-span structures
- Sound understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, and formwork systems.
- Working knowledge of IS codes, quality standards, and safety regulations applicable to commercial projects.
- Ability to interpret structural drawings and coordinate design intent with site execution.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (mandatory).
- 8 -10 years of relevant experience in commercial construction projects.
- Prior experience working with or for a Project Management Consultancy (PMC) is strongly preferred.
Location & Site-Based Expectations
- Role is primarily site-based at commercial project locations.
- Requires regular presence on construction sites and coordination with on-site stakeholders.
