Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Assistant Professor position in Statistics based at the Bengaluru campus. The role involves designing and delivering undergraduate and postgraduate courses in statistics, including lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions. Responsibilities include developing course materials, preparing assessments, evaluating student performance, and providing academic advising and mentoring. The Assistant Professor will engage in independent and collaborative research, publish in reputable journals, and contribute to grant applications and research projects. The role also includes participation in departmental and university committees, curriculum development, student outreach activities, and continuous professional development to stay current with advances in statistics and pedagogy.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in statistical theory and methods, with the ability to teach core and advanced statistics courses.
- Proficiency in statistical software and programming tools (e.g., R, Python, SPSS, SAS, or similar) and data analysis workflows.
- Evidence of research capability in statistics or related fields, including publications, conference presentations, or ongoing projects.
- Effective teaching, classroom management, and curriculum development skills, with a student-centered and inclusive approach.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with colleagues across disciplines.
- Minimum of a master’s degree in Statistics or a closely related discipline; a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree is strongly preferred.
- Prior teaching or academic experience at the university level is an advantage, as is experience supervising student projects or theses.
- Commitment to ethical academic practices, continuous learning, and contributing to the university’s research and community engagement initiatives.
