Before you apply — three checks
Please confirm all three before submitting. Applications that do not meet them are not shortlisted, and we would rather save you the effort.
- You hold an M.Ed from a recognised university, per NCTE norms
- You hold UGC NET in Education, or a PhD in Education — this is a hard requirement, not a preference
- You have supervised trainee teachers through school internship or teaching practicum. In your covering letter, state how many trainees you have supervised, over what period, and at which institution. This is the single thing we look at first.
The roleB.Ed is BITE's founding programme. It has run continuously since 2003, and a substantial share of our 5,000+ alumni are working teachers across Uttar Pradesh and Bihar because of it. You will teach on it.
The role covers pedagogical methods, curriculum design and educational psychology — and, significantly, supervision of the 400+ hours of school practicum that anchor the programme, including partner-school placements across Varanasi. That supervision is not administrative overhead. It is where trainee teachers either learn to hold a classroom or don't.
Full-time, on-site at Babatpur, Varanasi.
ResponsibilitiesTeaching- Teach foundation papers: philosophical and sociological foundations of education, educational psychology, and the history and politics of Indian education
- Teach curriculum design, assessment and evaluation, and educational technology
- Deliver subject-pedagogy methods courses with structured micro-teaching practice — lesson planning, skill-wise micro-teaching cycles, and peer feedback
- Teach inclusive education, gender and school, and value education papers as the NCTE framework requires
School practicum and internship supervision- Plan and run the 400+ hour school internship — partner-school allocation, scheduling, and coordination with school heads
- Conduct classroom observation and provide structured feedback on lesson delivery
- Review and evaluate lesson plans, teaching diaries, reflective journals and internship records
- Maintain relationships with partner schools across Varanasi so placements remain available and welcome
- Assess practicum performance to NCTE evaluation standards
Compliance, research and mentoring- Maintain NCTE compliance in documentation, delivery and records
- Integrate CTET and UPTET (Paper II) preparation into coursework, as the programme design requires
- Guide action-research projects and dissertations
- Mentor trainee teachers on employment pathways — TET, Super-TET, government recruitment, and private school placement
- Contribute to departmental research output and institutional academic and co-curricular activity
QualificationsEssential — all four required- M.Ed from a recognised university, per NCTE norms
- UGC NET or PhD in Education
- Demonstrable experience supervising school teaching practicum or internships — stated with numbers in your covering letter
- Fluency in Hindi and English — trainees come largely from Purvanchal and Bihar, and teaching is bilingual
Also expected- Familiarity with NEP 2020 and NCTE curriculum frameworks
- Understanding of CTET / UPTET requirements and pattern
- Based in, or willing to relocate to, Varanasi for this on-site role
Preferred- Prior school teaching experience at secondary or senior-secondary level — trainees respond differently to someone who has held a real classroom
- Subject-pedagogy specialisation in a school subject (Science, Mathematics, Social Science, Hindi, English)
- Existing relationships with schools in Varanasi and surrounding districts
- Publications in education, pedagogy, or teacher-education research
- Experience with NCTE inspection or accreditation processes
- Experience guiding action research
RemunerationAs per institutional norms, commensurate with qualification and experience. Discussed at interview.
Demo lecture and interview at the BITE campus, Babatpur, Varanasi.
