Assistant Professor – Business Communication (Job Description)
Role Overview
An Assistant Professor of Business Communication is responsible for teaching students how to communicate effectively in professional and organizational settings. This includes written, verbal, and digital communication skills essential for business environments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Teaching & Instruction
- Deliver undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses in Business Communication
- Teach subjects like: Corporate Communication, Professional Writing, Interpersonal Communication, Presentation Skills, Cross-cultural Communication, Develop lesson plans, assignments, and assessment methods, Use case studies, role-plays, and real-world examples.
2. Curriculum Development
- Design and update course content in line with industry trends
- Integrate modern tools (email etiquette, business writing software, communication platforms)
- Ensure alignment with academic standards and accreditation requirements
3. Research & Publications
- Conduct research in areas like organizational communication, media studies, or corporate communication
- Publish papers in academic journals
- Present research at conferences and seminars
4. Student Mentorship
- Guide students in improving communication and soft skills
- Supervise projects, dissertations, or internships
- Provide career guidance and feedback
5. Administrative Duties
- Participate in departmental meetings and committees
- Assist in organizing workshops, seminars, and guest lectures
- Support accreditation and institutional development processes
6. Industry Interaction
- Collaborate with industry professionals for guest lectures or training
- Stay updated with corporate communication practices
- Facilitate internships or industry projects
Required Qualifications
- PhD in: English / Communication Studies / Business Communication.
- NET/SET qualification (in India, often required)
