Job Brief
Jagannath Institute of Management Sciences, (JIMS) Vasant Kunj, New Delhi invites applications for the post of Assistant Professor in the Department of Journalism & Mass Communication, with a minimum of 3 years of teaching/research experience and must be NET qualified/ PhD in Journalism & Mass Communication, to teach subjects of Design and Graphics, Video Editing, Digital Marketing, Global Media, etc. Interested candidates may send their CV to hodmasscom.vk2@jagannath.org.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in communications, including expertise in organizational communications, public relations, radio/television broadcasting, and journalism. This role involves teaching undergraduate level courses, mentoring students, and contributing to the academic community through research and curriculum development. Candidates should demonstrate a passion for fostering critical thinking and effective communication skills among students.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging course content in journalism and communication disciplines.
- Assess student performance through assignments, projects, and examinations.
- Guide and mentor students in their academic and professional pursuits.
- Conduct research in relevant areas of journalism and communication.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the curriculum and academic offerings.
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to program development.
- Stay current with industry trends and integrate them into the classroom.
- Engage in community outreach and professional development activities.
Requirements
- Masters or Ph.D in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
- Must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC
- Proven teaching experience at the college or university level.
- Strong understanding of current media practices and technologies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with curriculum development and course design.
- Ability to engage and inspire a diverse student population.
- Research experience and a strong publication record are preferred.
- Professional experience in journalism or related fields is an asset.
