Core Responsibilities

• Clinical Care & Specialized Procedures
• Out-Patient Management: Diagnose and treat common and complex dermatological conditions, including psoriasis, pemphigus, and allergic disorders.
• Specialty Clinics: Run dedicated clinics for Leprosy (MDT management), Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STIs), and Pigmentary disorders.
• Dermatosurgery: Perform and teach essential procedures such as skin biopsies, electrocautery, chemical peels, radiofrequency surgery, and basic vitiligo surgeries.
• In-Patient Care: Manage admitted patients with severe conditions like Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS), Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (TEN), or erythroderma.
• Academic Instruction
• Clinical Demonstrations: Teach undergraduate (MBBS) students how to identify primary and secondary skin lesions and perform basic bedside tests (e.g., KOH mount, Tzanck smear).
• Theory Lectures: Deliver structured lectures on systemic dermatology, leprosy elimination strategies, and the syndromic management of STIs.
• Postgraduate Mentorship: Supervise MD/DNB residents during their clinical rotations and assist them with their procedural skills and case presentations.
• Research & Institutional Service
• Scholarly Research: Conduct clinical trials or observational studies on skin diseases prevalent in the local population.
• Thesis Guidance: Assist postgraduate students in selecting research topics and monitoring their thesis progress.
• Public Health Programs: Actively participate in the National Leprosy Eradication Programme (NLEP) and NACO guidelines for STI control.
  
  

Required Qualifications & Experience

Criteria Specification Academic Degree MD in Dermatology, Venereology, and Leprosy or DNB in the same specialty. Registration Valid registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC) or State Medical Council. Experience Minimum 3 years of teaching experience as a Senior Resident in a recognized medical college. Publications Minimum of two research publications in indexed journals as per current NMC norms.
