Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Assistant Professor role based at North-Eastern Hill University in Shillong. The Assistant Professor will design and deliver lectures, tutorials, and seminars at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, ensuring high-quality, student-centered teaching. The role includes preparing course materials, assessing student performance, providing academic mentoring, and maintaining student records. The Assistant Professor will conduct independent and collaborative research, publish in reputable academic outlets, and contribute to curriculum development. Responsibilities also include participation in departmental meetings, academic committees, and university initiatives, as well as engagement in outreach and extension activities as required.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in a relevant discipline (preferably Ph.D., or equivalent) from a recognized institution, with a strong academic record.
- Demonstrated ability to teach effectively at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including experience in course planning, classroom instruction, and student evaluation.
- Active research profile or clear research potential, evidenced by publications, conference presentations, or ongoing research projects.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and support a diverse student population.
- Familiarity with modern pedagogical approaches, including use of educational technology and blended learning methods.
- Commitment to ethical academic practices, inclusive education, and contribution to departmental and university service activities.
- Prior teaching or postdoctoral experience is an advantage, as is experience in securing research funding or participating in funded projects.
