Qualification: B.E./B.Tech. in Mining Engineering with First Class Manager's Certificate of Competency (Metal)
Key Responsibilities:
1. Drilling & Blasting Operations
- This is Statutory Assistant Mines Manager position and incumbent is expected to deliver duties of Assistant mine’s manger as defined in Statue.
- Plan and execute drilling and blasting activities to achieve production and dispatch mine development targets.
- Drive drilling and blasting excellence through optimized blast designs, efficient explosive utilization, superior fragmentation quality, and enhanced productivity.
- Monitor drilling productivity, blast performance, and equipment utilization.
- Coordinate with mine planning and production teams to ensure seamless mining operations.
2. Safety, Statutory & Environmental Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with the Mines Act, Mines Rules, Metalliferous Mines Regulations (MMR),
- 1961, DGMS directives, Explosives Rules -2008, PESO guidelines, and Vedanta's Safety.
- Implement SMP, HIRA, JSA, and safe blasting procedures across all blasting operations.
- Conduct pre-blast and post-blast inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments.
- Ensure safe handling, transportation, storage, and consumption of explosives.
- Monitor blast-induced vibration, fly-rock, dust, noise, and environmental impacts.
3. Explosives & Magazine Management
- Ensure proper inventory management and statutory record maintenance of explosives, detonators, and accessories.
- Monitor explosive consumption and optimize powder factor to improve blasting efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with explosive magazine safety standards and security requirements.
4. Team & Contractor Management
- Supervise drilling and blasting teams, including contractors and operators.
- Develop workforce competency through training and safety awareness programs.
- Ensure contractor compliance with operational, safety, and statutory requirements
5. Planning, Cost Control & Performance Monitoring
- Prepare and monitor drilling and blasting schedules in line with production plans.
- Analyse blast performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Control drilling and blasting costs through optimization of explosive usage and equipment productivity.
- Coordinate with geology, survey, production, and mechanical teams for effective execution.
Experience & Skills:
- 8-10 years of experience in mechanized open-cast metal mining operations.
- Strong knowledge of blast design, explosive management, vibration control, and fragmentation analysis.
- Experience in bauxite mining operations preferred.
- Strong leadership, planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills
