Role Context: Wild Aid, is Wildlife Trust of India’s outreach division and we are looking for someone to assist our HQ team to help address conservation emergencies across India. Wild Aid aims to tackle emergent wildlife conservation emergencies, through innovative, short term, small budget projects, which can nip the problem in the bud, before it turns in to a larger conservation challenge. The Asst. Manager, will work with the Division Head and PI of the Project to identify the conservation emergencies, and implement these with the help of conservation partners, stationed across the country. These partners are external, grass root organisations or individuals who are able to work towards addressing these threats, with WTI’s support. The Asst. Manager will also be required to write proposals and reports for existing or new donors to help WTI’s fund raising team raise resources for the project on a regular basis. In addition to these, WTI’s Wild Aid Division also provides a supplementary accident assurance to Forest Department Frontline staff across India, the Assistant Manager is to work with the project team and facilitate timely distribution of this aid to frontline staff when in need.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify conservation emergencies and generate proposals with conservation partners and ensure that eligible proposals are sanctioned and executed in the field on time following necessary financial guidelines.
- Coordinate and collaborate with conservation partners, to get regular updates from the sanctioned projects through reports, photographs, video, mails and any other form.
- Coordinate with conservation partners and ensure all reports and finances for a given project is settled within the designated timeframe for the project.
- Assist the Division Head of Wild Aid with all delegated work, including research for Wild Projects write-ups, making of presentations, collaterals etc.
- Ensure monitoring of Wild Aid projects with the help of Wild Aid team, WTI field staff and external project investigators.
- Maintain and update databases related to Wild Aid Projects and present the same to the Division Head and PI on a regular basis.
- Identify incidents where Forest Department frontline staff are injured or lose their life while in the line of duty and facilitate the process of ex-gratia aid to the victim or their families following financial guidelines.
- Accompany the Wild Aid team on official duty and tours to the field, as and when required.
- Assist the Division Head and PI with data analysis to help draft publications on Wild Aid Projects.
- Assist Division Head in drafting fund raising proposals for Wild Aid projects and ensure sustained funding every year.
- Drafting reports for Wild Aid donors and submitting them to WTI’s fund raising team as per donor prescribed timelines.
- Ensuring Wild Aid projects are regularly featured on WTI website, local and national level media and Digital media platforms.
- Assist Division Head of Wild Aid to conduct quarterly and annual evaluation of Wild Aid projects and submit the report to the PI.
Qualification Required: Master’s in Wildlife Sciences / Wildlife
Conservation / Environment Sciences or any similar / associated fields will be given preferred.
Work experience and required skill sets: At least 6 years of work experience in the wildlife conservation
sector. The job requires someone who has excellent communication skills (verbal and written), interpersonal skills, ability to network, is quick to act, creative with their thought process, and open to travelling to remote field sites on their own as and when required.
