Job Title: Immigration Specialist
Level: Assistant Manager
Location: Mumbai/ Gurugram/ Bangalore/ Chennai/ Pune/ Hyderabad (with US and Middle East exposure)
Role Overview
The Immigration Specialist at the Assistant Manager level will serve as an expert supporting employee mobility across Uniqus's global footprint, with a primary focus on US immigration processes and Middle East (ME) immigration matters. This role will sit within the HR/People Operations function and work closely with business leaders, external legal counsel, and regional HR teams to ensure seamless, compliant, and timely visa and immigration support for the firm's professionals.
Key Responsibilities
US Immigration
- Manage end-to-end US visa processes including H-1B, L-1, O-1, TN, and EB-category petitions in coordination with external immigration counsel
- Track visa caps, lottery timelines, USCIS processing updates, and regulatory changes; communicate proactively to HR and business stakeholders
- Maintain accurate immigration case trackers and ensure timely filing, renewal, and extension of petitions
- Liaise with employees, candidates, and law firms throughout the visa lifecycle from initiation to approval
- Advise HR and leadership on immigration feasibility for international hires, transfers, and assignments
- Ensure compliance with I-9 verification, Public Access File requirements, and LCA (Labor Condition Application) obligations
Middle East Immigration
- Support visa and work permit processes across UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and other ME jurisdictions as needed
- Coordinate with in-country HR teams and PRO (Public Relations Officer) contacts on residency visa, employment visa, and dependent visa requirements
- Track country-specific regulatory developments affecting employee mobility in the region
Cross-Functional and Advisory
- Serve as a central point of contact for immigration queries from employees, HR business partners, and hiring managers
- Contribute to immigration policy documentation, onboarding guides, and internal FAQs
- Support audits and due diligence exercises related to employee immigration status
- Identify process gaps and recommend improvements to immigration workflows
Qualifications and Experience
- 5 to 8 years of progressive experience in immigration operations, with hands-on expertise in US visa categories (H-1B, L-1, O-1, TN, EB series)
- Prior experience working in a professional services, consulting, staffing, or multinational corporate environment
- Strong working knowledge of USCIS processes, DOL requirements, and I-9 compliance
- Experience coordinating with external immigration law firms
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple active cases simultaneously
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Exposure to Middle East immigration processes (UAE, KSA, Qatar)
- Familiarity with immigration case management tools or HRIS platforms
- Experience supporting international mobility or cross-border talent programs
