Role Description The Assistant Manager – Fundraising Officer will be responsible for planning and executing fundraising strategies to support The Akshaya Patra Foundation’s programs, working full time on-site in Chennai. This role involves identifying and cultivating prospective donors, managing relationships with existing donors, and engaging corporate, institutional, and individual partners through meetings, presentations, and events. The position includes preparing proposals, donor communications, and impact reports, as well as maintaining accurate records in fundraising databases and tracking progress against targets. The Assistant Manager will collaborate with program, finance, and communications teams to develop compelling narratives, ensure transparency, and align fundraising initiatives with organizational priorities. The role may also include organizing local outreach activities and representing the foundation at external events to build visibility and long-term support.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Analytical Skills to interpret data, assess fundraising performance, and support evidence-based decision-making.
- Candidates should possess knowledge of Finance and Investments to understand donor portfolios, funding structures, and financial implications of fundraising initiatives.
- Candidates should possess familiarity with Investment Management and Equities to engage effectively with high-net-worth donors, corporate partners, and impact investors when relevant.
- Candidates should possess excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to build trust with diverse stakeholders and articulate the foundation’s impact.
- Candidates should possess abilities in relationship management, networking, and stakeholder engagement, preferably with experience in fundraising, sales, business development, or nonprofit partnerships.
- Candidates should possess strong organizational and time-management skills, with the capacity to handle multiple projects and meet fundraising targets.
- Relevant academic background in Business, Finance, Marketing, Social Work, or a related field is beneficial; experience in the social sector or development organizations is an advantage.
