Job Profile Summary: Assistant Manager – Business Valuation
The assistant manager will contribute to a wide range of business, security, and asset valuation engagements. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with junior team members (reviewing models, guiding their work, and interacting with clients) as well as senior team members, who will provide mentorship and training.
We’re looking for someone with a strong foundation in business and intangible asset valuation, a solid understanding of accounting fundamentals, and the confidence to communicate directly with executive leadership, including CEOs and CFOs, via phone and email.

Job Description

Client
- Participate in client discussions to gather information, clarify assumptions, and ensure alignment on project objectives.
- Communicate valuation approaches, key assumptions, and analytical findings in a clear and professional manner.
- Build trust with clients by delivering high‑quality work, responding promptly to questions, and maintaining a solutions‑oriented mindset throughout engagements.
Education and Experience:
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics is required due to the technical nature of the work, along with 4-6 years of business valuation experience. This role demands strong knowledge of valuation concepts, accounting analysis, financial analysis, and the application of advanced valuation frameworks. Candidates must demonstrate strong quantitative skills in disciplines such as mathematics, economics, accounting, or finance.
Value
The assistant manager performs highly technical analyses related to valuing business enterprises and their securities. The job requires a strong grasp of the following analyses:
- Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) Analysis
- Comparable Merger & Acquisition Transaction Analysis
- Comparable Public Company Multiple Analysis
- Cost-to-Recreate Analysis
- ASC 805 (Purchase Price Allocations)
- ASC 350/ASC 360 (Impairment Testing)
- ASC 820 (Fair Value)
- IRC 409A Valuations using Black-Scholes option pricing model
- Gift & Estate Valuations
- Determines appropriate discounts for lack of marketability and lack of control for equity securities.
- Benchmarking, financial statement analysis, and economic/industry analysis
- Drafting and assisting in the preparation of memos and valuation reports
- Building and reviewing financial models.
Computer Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The assistant manager collaborates with junior team members by reviewing models and participating in client engagements, while also working closely with senior team members for mentorship and professional development.
Work Environment:
- Standard indoor office environment.
- Occasional periods of extended sitting while working at a computer.
- May need interaction with employees at all levels of the firm, as well as external vendors as necessary.
