Job Description: The Utility Manager is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of all utility systems within the plant/facility to ensure uninterrupted production and efficient operations. The role includes managing equipment such as boilers, compressors, chillers, DG sets, HVAC systems, water treatment plants, and electrical utilities while ensuring compliance with safety and maintenance standards. The specific responsibilities of the position holder will be (though not restricted to) the following:
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure smooth operation of all utility equipment and systems.
- Monitor daily utility consumption including electricity, water, diesel, gas, etc.
- Carry out preventive and breakdown maintenance of utility equipment.
- Maintain records and logs related to utility operations and maintenance activities.
- Coordinate with production and maintenance teams for uninterrupted utility support.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and statutory requirements.
- Monitor equipment performance and suggest improvements for energy efficiency and cost optimization.
- Supervise utility technicians/operators and allocate daily work activities.
- Handle vendor coordination for AMC/service-related activities.
- Ensure availability of critical spares and consumables.
- Attend emergency breakdowns and ensure timely resolution.
- Support audits and documentation related to utilities and maintenance.
Required Skills:
- Knowledge of utility systems and industrial equipment.
- Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical maintenance.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Good communication and coordination abilities.
- Familiarity with safety practices and maintenance procedures.
- MS Office and maintenance documentation knowledge preferred.
Qualifications:
- Diploma/B.Tech/B.E. in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or related field.
Experience:
- 8-10 years of experience in utility operations and maintenance in manufacturing/industrial setup.
