Job Description: We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented CMF Designer to develop innovative and aesthetically appealing color, material, and finish solutions for products. The role involves researching market trends, creating material concepts, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring alignment between product design, brand identity, functionality, and manufacturability. The specific responsibilities of the position holder will
be (though not restricted to) the following:
- Develop and define Color, Material & Finish (CMF) strategies for products in alignment with brand language and market trends.
- Research global trends, consumer preferences, sustainability practices, and emerging materials.
- Create CMF mood boards, material libraries, palettes, and presentation concepts.
- Collaborate closely with Industrial Design, Engineering, Marketing, and Production teams during product development.
- Identify and source innovative materials, textures, coatings, fabrics, and finishes.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for material sampling, approvals, and feasibility.
- Ensure consistency of color and finish quality across production batches.
- Conduct benchmarking and competitor analysis for market positioning.
- Support prototype development and final product validation.
- Maintain documentation related to materials, finishes, approvals, and specifications.
- Ensure designs comply with manufacturing, cost, durability, and sustainability requirement
Academic and Professional Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of color theory, material applications, textures, and surface finishes.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and material feasibility.
- Excellent visualization and presentation skills.
- Creative thinking with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to forecast trends and translate them into product aesthetics.
- Good communication and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Understanding of sustainable and eco-friendly material solutions.
- 4-6 years of experience in a related field CMF Design, Product Design, Automotive, Consumer Goods, Furniture, Lifestyle Products, or related industries.
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Interior Design, Fashion Design, or related field.
Preferred Software Skills:
- Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- KeyShot / Blender / Rhino / Alias / SolidWorks (preferred)
- MS Office / Presentation tools
