About the Job:
The Assistant Manager – Sheet Metal Fabrication is responsible for supervising and coordinating sheet metal manufacturing operations including laser cutting, bending, welding, fabrication, assembly, and finishing processes. The role focuses on achieving production targets, maintaining quality standards, improving productivity, reducing rejection, and ensuring safe manufacturing practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Management
- Plan and monitor daily production activities.
- Ensure production targets are achieved as per schedule.
- Coordinate with planning, design, quality, and maintenance departments.
- Monitor machine utilization and manpower allocation.
- Reduce production delays and bottlenecks
Process Supervision
- Supervise fabrication processes such as:
- Laser Cutting
- CNC Punching
- Bending
- Welding
- Grinding & Finishing
- Assembly
- Ensure proper process flow and routing adherence.
- Monitor setup activities and cycle times.
Quality Control
- Ensure products meet customer drawings and specifications.
- Monitor rejection, rework, and scrap levels.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Coordinate with QA team for inspection and quality improvements.
Team Management
- Supervise operators, fabricators, welders, and supervisors.
- Conduct daily production meetings.
- Train employees on process standards and safety practices.
- Maintain discipline and workforce productivity.
Maintenance Coordination
- Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules.
- Ensure machine breakdowns are minimized.
- Follow up with maintenance team for quick resolution.
Cost & Productivity Improvement
- Improve OEE, productivity, and material utilization.
- Reduce consumable usage and production wastage.
- Implement Kaizen and continuous improvement activities.
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and PPE usage.
- Maintain 5S activities in production areas.
- Follow ISO and company quality procedures.
Candidate Profile
Educational Qualification
· Diploma / BE / B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering.
Experience
· 5–10 years’ experience in sheet metal fabrication industry.
· Experience in handling fabrication shop floor operations.
Required Skills
· Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes.
· Understanding fabrication drawings and GD&T.
· Knowledge of welding standards and inspection methods.
· Production planning and manpower handling skills.
· Problem-solving and leadership abilities.
· ERP/MIS reporting knowledge.
· Good communication and coordination skills.

· ERP Systems
· MS Excel
· Solid works, AutoCAD and other 3D cad tools
