Role Summary:
The Assistant Manager – Engineering & ACES (Product Management and Customer excellence) is responsible for leading the day-to-day execution of Engineering and ACES activities for assigned products or teams. The role ensures timely delivery, high-quality engineering outcomes, operational excellence, and effective collaboration across Engineering and ACES to meet business and customer expectations.
The role is expected to drive AI-enabled engineering practices within the team by adopting approved tools and workflows that improve productivity, quality, and delivery efficiency. Success in this role requires balancing technical leadership, people management, and execution while continuously improving engineering processes through practical AI adoption.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Engineering Delivery & Execution
- Lead Engineering and ACES teams to deliver committed product releases within defined timelines.
- Plan, prioritize, and monitor sprint execution, resource allocation, and delivery milestones.
- Ensure engineering deliverables meet quality, performance, and business requirements.
- Track progress, identify delivery risks, and implement corrective actions proactively.
2. AI-Enabled Engineering Practices
- Promote the adoption of approved AI tools and engineering best practices across the team.
- Encourage AI-assisted development activities such as:
- Code generation and code review
- Test case generation and maintenance
- Defect analysis and troubleshooting
- Documentation and knowledge creation
- Monitor AI adoption within the team and ensure effective utilization to improve productivity and delivery outcomes.
3. Engineering Quality & Operational Excellence
- Ensure engineering quality standards are consistently followed throughout the development lifecycle.
- Drive improvements in:
Code quality
Defect prevention
Test coverage
Release readiness
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that reduce manual effort and improve engineering efficiency.
- Ensure adherence to engineering processes, coding standards, and development guidelines.
4. Technical Leadership
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers on design, implementation, and engineering best practices.
- Participate in architecture discussions and technical solution reviews.
- Support root cause analysis for production issues and ensure preventive actions are implemented.
- Encourage continuous learning and adoption of modern engineering practices.
5. People Management & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and mentor Engineering and ACES team members.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance discussions, and development planning.
- Identify skill gaps and recommend appropriate training and upskilling initiatives.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performance team culture.
6. Stakeholder Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering leadership, and cross-functional teams to ensure smooth execution.
- Communicate project status, delivery risks, dependencies, and mitigation plans.
- Support customer escalations and ensure timely issue resolution.
- Maintain effective coordination across Engineering and ACES throughout the delivery lifecycle.

Required Qualifications
Experience
- 5–10 years of experience in software engineering.
- 2–4 years of experience leading engineering teams.
- Experience managing Engineering delivery across multiple projects or products.
- Exposure to AI-assisted engineering tools and modern software development practices.
Technical & Leadership Skills
- Strong understanding of modern software engineering principles.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and sprint execution.
- Good knowledge of CI/CD, version control, automation, and engineering quality practices.
- Familiarity with AI-enabled software development tools and productivity platforms.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to mentor teams and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience implementing AI-assisted engineering workflows.
- Exposure to product engineering environments.
- Experience in process improvement and engineering productivity initiatives.
- Certification or training in Agile, Scrum, or Engineering Leadership is an added advantage.
