Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Manager – Logistics to oversee transportation, equipment movement, fleet coordination, and supply chain operations for construction equipment and heavy machinery. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely movement of equipment, optimizing logistics costs, and maintaining smooth coordination between project sites, vendors, transporters, and internal departments.
Key ResponsibilitiesLogistics & Transportation Management
- Plan and coordinate transportation of construction equipment, machinery, and spare parts across project sites.
- Manage movement of Over-Dimensional Cargo (ODC) and heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
- Ensure timely dispatch and delivery of equipment as per operational requirements.
- Coordinate with transport vendors and fleet operators for smooth execution.
Fleet & Equipment Coordination
- Monitor equipment transfer schedules and vehicle utilization.
- Ensure proper documentation for equipment movement, permits, and transit approvals.
- Track movement status and maintain logistics MIS reports.
Vendor & Cost Management
- Negotiate transportation rates and contracts with logistics vendors.
- Monitor logistics costs and implement cost optimization measures.
- Evaluate transporter performance and ensure service quality compliance.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with road transport regulations and safety standards.
- Coordinate for route surveys, escorts, and statutory approvals for ODC transportation.
- Maintain records related to insurance, permits, and transport documentation.
Coordination & Reporting
- Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Stores, and Project teams for equipment deployment.
- Prepare logistics dashboards, movement reports, and utilization analysis.
- Support management with logistics planning and operational improvements.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of heavy equipment transportation and logistics operations
- Experience in ODC handling and route planning
- Vendor management and negotiation skills
- Strong coordination and communication abilities
- Proficiency in MS Excel and logistics MIS reporting
- Understanding of transport compliance and safety regulations
