Role Description This full-time on-site Assistant Editor role is based in Concord, ON. The Assistant Editor supports the post-production workflow by organizing footage, syncing audio, and preparing timelines for senior editors. Day-to-day responsibilities include assembling rough cuts, selecting best takes, applying basic color and sound adjustments, and exporting deliverables in required formats. The role also involves maintaining organized project files, managing backups, and ensuring that edits align with creative briefs and brand standards. The Assistant Editor collaborates closely with the production and editing teams to meet deadlines and uphold visual and storytelling quality across wedding, bridal, and advertisement projects.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in video editing techniques and familiarity with industry-standard editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve).
- Ability to organize and manage large volumes of footage, including file naming, metadata tagging, and project archiving.
- Basic skills in color correction, audio leveling, and visual transitions to support polished, cohesive edits.
- Understanding of storytelling principles, pacing, and shot selection, especially for wedding and commercial content.
- Attention to detail in reviewing edits for continuity, visual consistency, and technical accuracy.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with editors, camera teams, and production staff on-site.
- Ability to manage time well, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced production environment.
- Relevant post-secondary education or training in film, media, or a related field is an asset; prior experience in wedding or commercial editing is beneficial.
