Role: MEP / HVAC Costing Specialist
Grade: Associate / Senior Associate
Location: Mumbai
Role Purpose
The MEP / HVAC Costing Specialist will support the preparation of accurate techno-commercial cost estimates for commercial interior and fit-out projects. The role involves quantity take-offs, vendor coordination, BOQ preparation, and costing support for HVAC and allied MEP services in coordination with the Costing Manager and project teams.
This is a techno-commercial role critical to ensuring commercially viable and competitive project proposals.
Role Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire-fighting, and allied MEP services for commercial interior projects
- Analyze tender drawings, specifications, and BOQs to derive accurate costing inputs
- Perform quantity take-offs from layouts and technical drawings
- Support HVAC load-based costing and equipment estimation activities
- Coordinate with OEMs, vendors, and subcontractors for quotations and technical inputs
- Compare vendor proposals on technical and commercial parameters
- Support value engineering and cost optimization initiatives
- Prepare detailed BOQs, rate analysis, and costing summaries
- Work closely with the Costing Manager for commercial submissions and bid evaluations
- Coordinate with design, projects, procurement, and business teams during bid preparation
- Track market pricing trends for MEP materials and equipment
- Ensure estimates are aligned with project specifications and industry standards
- Support preparation of project budgets and cost comparisons
- Maintain costing databases and standardized templates for recurring project requirements
- Support technical-commercial clarification processes with internal and external stakeholders
What We’re Looking For
- 3–5 years of experience in MEP / HVAC costing for commercial interiors, workplace, retail, hospitality, or institutional fit-outs
- Hands-on experience in preparing MEP cost estimates and BOQs for interior fit-out projects
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing, and fire-fighting services
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, BOQs, and project specifications
- Familiarity with HVAC equipment selection and costing methodologies
- Experience in vendor coordination and quotation analysis
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel, and estimation/costing tools
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail
- Good coordination and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work in fast-paced project environments with multiple stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
- Exposure to commercial fit-outs and turnkey interior projects preferred
- Knowledge of industry standards, compliance norms, and cost benchmarking practices
