Role Description The Assistant Chief Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Bengaluru Area. This role supports the Chief Engineer in managing the maintenance and engineering operations across hotels, resto-bars, catering facilities, and leisure resorts. Day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems; coordinating with vendors and contractors; and ensuring that facilities comply with safety and regulatory standards. The Assistant Chief Engineer supervises maintenance staff, assigns work orders, monitors the quality of repairs, and maintains accurate records of equipment, inventories, and maintenance schedules. The role also involves responding to urgent breakdowns, optimizing energy usage, assisting in renovation or expansion projects, and collaborating with operations and housekeeping teams to minimize downtime and enhance guest satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Strong facilities and building maintenance skills, including hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance planning, troubleshooting procedures, and use of maintenance tools and equipment.
- Understanding of safety regulations, fire and life safety systems, and compliance with local building and statutory requirements.
- Ability to supervise and train maintenance staff, allocate tasks, and monitor performance in a multi-property environment.
- Experience coordinating with external vendors, contractors, and service providers for repairs, installations, and projects.
- Proficiency in basic documentation, reporting, and use of maintenance management software or digital tools.
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related Engineering field; additional certification in facilities or energy management is an advantage.
- Previous experience in hotel or hospitality engineering, or in a similar facilities management role, preferably in the Greater Bengaluru Area.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure and during irregular hours when required.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams focused on guest satisfaction and operational excellence.
