About SSPSS & Co. Chartered Accountants
Founded in 2017 and reconstituted as a partnership in 2025, SSPSS & Co. is a growing Chartered Accountancy firm delivering audit and assurance, taxation, business advisory, and regulatory compliance services to companies, startups, SMEs, professionals, and individuals. We pair partner-led attention with technology-enabled audit and accounting tools, so our team spends less time on manual paperwork and more time on judgement and advisory work. Integrity, continuous learning, and ownership define how we operate - and how we grow our people.
The Opportunity
We are hiring an Assistant Audit Manager to lead and deliver statutory, internal, and tax audit engagements across a varied client portfolio. This is a hands-on leadership role: you will own engagements end to end, mentor article assistants and audit executives, and work directly with the partners on risk assessment, reporting, and client relationships. It suits a Chartered Accountant, or a CA finalist with strong articleship experience, who wants real responsibility sooner than a large-firm hierarchy allows.
What You Will Do
• Plan, execute, and close statutory, internal, tax, and stock audits, including scoping, budgeting, and engagement timelines
• Review books of accounts, reconciliations, and financial statements prepared under applicable accounting and auditing standards (Companies Act, AS / Ind AS as applicable)
• Evaluate internal control systems, identify process gaps and control weaknesses, and recommend practical improvements
• Ensure compliance with the Income Tax Act, GST, TDS, Companies Act, and other applicable regulations; support tax audit and ROC filings
• Supervise, review, and coach audit teams; allocate fieldwork and maintain the quality of working papers and documentation
• Draft audit reports, observation memos, and management letters; present findings and recommendations to client management and partners
• Contribute to risk assessment, materiality decisions, and the improvement of audit checklists and methodology
• Act as a dependable point of contact for clients, resolving queries, managing expectations, and delivering on deadlines
What We Are Looking For
• Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA), or CA finalist / semi-qualified candidate with substantial audit articleship experience; equivalent qualifications considered
• 2 to 5 years of hands-on audit and assurance experience, preferably in a Chartered Accountancy firm
• Strong grounding in accounting standards, Standards on Auditing, and direct and indirect tax provisions
• Ability to analyse financial statements and apply analytical skills to identify risks, trends, unusual items, and control weaknesses
• Working knowledge of Tally, Zoho, or comparable accounting ERPs, audit documentation tools, and advanced Excel; comfort with the MCA, GST, and Income Tax portals
• Clear written and verbal communication (English and Malayalam preferred) with the confidence to present to senior client stakeholders
• Attention to detail, strong ownership of deadlines, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments
• Demonstrated integrity, professional scepticism, and commitment to ethical and confidentiality standards
Why Join Us
• Compensation at the best of industry standards for eligible candidates
• Direct partner mentorship and exposure to a broad mix of clients, sectors, and assignment types
• A clear progression path towards Audit Manager as the firm scales
• Support for continuing professional development and certifications
• Technology-enabled workflows instead of repetitive manual audit work
Location and Type
Full-time, on-site at Kottarakara, Kerala, with travel to client locations as required.
