Job Summary
The Assembly Fitter will be responsible for assembling automation machines, robotic systems, and mechanical equipment as per engineering drawings. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of mechanical assembly, be able to interpret engineering drawings, and ensure high-quality workmanship while meeting project timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, assembly drawings, and fabrication drawings.
- Assemble Special Purpose Machines (SPMs), automation equipment, conveyors, robotic cells, and machine components.
- Perform fitting, alignment, leveling, and installation of mechanical assemblies.
- Assemble linear guides, ball screws, bearings, shafts, gearboxes, motors, couplings, and pneumatic components.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, dial gauges, and height gauges.
- Perform drilling, tapping, cutting, grinding, and minor fabrication work whenever required.
- Ensure proper alignment and smooth movement of machine assemblies.
- Assist in machine testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting mechanical issues.
- Coordinate with the design, electrical, and automation teams during machine assembly.
- Maintain quality standards and follow assembly checklists.
- Ensure workplace cleanliness and follow all safety procedures.
- Support machine installation and commissioning at customer sites when required.
Required Skills
- Ability to read and understand mechanical engineering drawings.
- Strong knowledge of machine assembly techniques.
- Familiarity with bearings, linear motion systems, gearboxes, pneumatic systems, and mechanical transmission components.
- Good understanding of tolerances, fits, and alignments.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
- Basic troubleshooting skills for mechanical assemblies.
- Team player with good communication and problem-solving abilities.
