# Job Description: Assembly Engineer
Assembly Engineer
## Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Assembly Engineer to join our manufacturing team. The Assembly Engineer will be responsible for developing, improving, and supporting assembly processes to ensure products are manufactured efficiently, safely, and in accordance with quality standards. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize production, resolve technical issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
## Key Responsibilities
* Develop, implement, and optimize assembly processes for new and existing products.
* Prepare and maintain assembly work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process documentation.
* Analyze production issues and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
* Support new product introduction (NPI) by designing and validating assembly processes.
* Collaborate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Design, and Supply Chain teams to achieve production goals.
* Conduct time studies and line balancing to improve productivity and reduce cycle time.
* Identify opportunities for cost reduction, waste elimination, and process optimization using Lean Manufacturing principles.
* Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
* Coordinate installation, qualification, and maintenance of assembly tools, fixtures, and equipment.
* Participate in root cause analysis using methodologies such as 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, and FMEA.
* Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including productivity, first-pass yield, rejection rate, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
* Train production operators on assembly methods, quality requirements, and best practices.
* Support internal and external quality audits.
## Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
* 2–5 years of experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment (experience requirement may vary based on role level).
* Strong understanding of assembly processes and manufacturing techniques.
* Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and 5S methodologies.
* Familiarity with process validation and continuous improvement tools.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; experience with ERP and MES systems is an advantage.
* Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
## Preferred Skills
* Experience with automation, robotics, or semi-automated assembly lines.
* Knowledge of GD&T, PFMEA, Control Plans, and SPC.
* Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or CATIA.
* Six Sigma Green Belt or Lean certification is preferred.
