We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Casualty Specialist with extensive experience and technical expertise in auto coverage, casualty handling, and claims litigation. This role involves assisting leadership in perfecting casualty processes and workflows, reviewing and maintaining oversight in serious injury and extra contractual exposures, and providing support and direction to all elements of the casualty enterprise. The ideal candidate will possess both high level technical and communication skills and will work regularly with senior leadership to provide feedback and recommendations to ensure quality and efficiency in the casualty organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assists in development and evolution of best practices for bodily injury and litigated claims
  • Assists management in achieving the best configuration for bodily injury handling and workflows
  • Reviews and ensures proper direction on large loss/serious injury claims
  • Work closely and provide oversight and direction for claims handlers and legal partners on all potential EC matters and on claims in which policy limits have been rejected
  • Oversees trial tracking and reporting to senior management
  • Assists with oversight and proper utilization of policy limit/time limit demand tracker
  • Assists with management and onboarding of retained counsel
  • Assists with legal bill review process and with identification and onboarding of vendor
  • Assists in ensuring Medicare process workflow and reporting for the organization
  • Provides input and supports front line claim handling process development and training
  • Acts as a liaison between front line and casualty, ensuring processes and practices are aligned

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in auto casualty coverage, with a strong focus on litigation and risk management
  • Proven experience and expertise in implementation of casualty best practices, processes, and procedures
  • Proven expertise in analyzing complex coverage issues and handling of serious injury claims.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to make sound decisions based on investigation findings.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present findings to VP and CCO level management.
  • Self-motivated with ability to coach and develop casualty handlers as well as a possess proactive approach to problem-solving and ownership of work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or relevant legal certification is a plus.
  • Familiarity with industry software and tools used in casualty claims and litigation handling
