We're building the team behind a narrative-driven third-person action game, and we're looking for an exceptional Character Artist. This isn't a "fill the seat" role we want someone who can own the character department on their own, with strong artistic judgment and a true ownership mindset.
What you'll do
You'll own the full character pipeline, end to end:
- Character design and modeling from scratch (high/low poly, sculpting, retopology, UVs, PBR texturing)
- Realistic clothing creation with cloth simulation: every garment must have weight, flow, and narrative purpose. No decoration for the sake of decoration
- Gameplay-ready rigging and skinning
- Advanced MetaHuman work: deep creation and modification from scratch, not preset tweaking
- Final implementation in Unreal Engine 5
What we expect from you
- Shipped titles in your portfolio (this is not a junior or student role)
- Full mastery of the complete character art pipeline
- Real artistic sensibility: every design choice anatomy, silhouette, clothing must have purpose and be made with intention
- Proven specialty in realistic cloth modeling and simulation
- Ability to build gameplay-ready rigs
- Deep, hands-on experience with MetaHuman beyond surface level
- Experience implementing characters in Unreal Engine 5
- Full autonomy: ability to make decisions, solve technical problems, and self-manage without supervision
- A portfolio at AAA or top-tier AA indie quality
Conditions
- 100% remote, work from anywhere
- 40 hours/week, flexible schedule
- Starting salary: $1,200 USD/month for the first 3 months (trial period)
- After trial: $1,800 – $2,400 USD/month based on performance
