Role Description

This is a full-time, remote role for an AI Engineer. You will play a central role in designing, building, and optimizing AI-driven features that power Healo. This involves working with Large Language Models (LLMs), developing prompt engineering strategies, fine-tuning models, and implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines to enhance contextual accuracy. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure AI outputs are accurate, empathetic, and aligned with our mental health mission.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered features for conversational experiences in Healo
• Fine-tune and optimize LLMs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, open-source models) for accuracy, tone, and empathy
• Build and maintain Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines for context-aware, knowledge-grounded responses
• Develop prompt engineering pipelines for consistent, high-quality AI responses
• Build AI evaluation and testing frameworks to measure response accuracy, safety, and context handling
• Integrate AI APIs and custom ML models into web/mobile applications via backend services
• Collaborate with product, psychology, and design teams to create human-centered AI interactions
• Monitor AI performance in production, identify edge cases, and implement improvements
• Research emerging AI/ML trends, tools, and methods to enhance product capabilities
• Ensure AI features comply with privacy, ethics, and mental health safety standards

Requirements

• 2–4+ years of experience in AI/ML development, preferably with LLMs or conversational AI
• Strong proficiency in Python (experience with JavaScript or TypeScript is a plus)
• Hands-on experience with OpenAI, LangChain, Hugging Face, or similar frameworks
• Proven experience in model fine-tuning and building RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) systems
• Expertise in prompt engineering, embeddings, and context management techniques
• Experience building and consuming REST/GraphQL APIs for AI integration
• Knowledge of vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS) for context retrieval
• Familiarity with cloud AI platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and MLOps tools
• Strong understanding of NLP concepts: intent recognition, entity extraction, semantic search
• Comfort with Git, CI/CD, and Agile workflows

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in mental health or health-tech domain, with sensitivity to empathetic AI design
• Knowledge of reinforcement learning from human feedback (RLHF) or AI safety techniques
• Exposure to multi-modal AI (text, voice, image integration)
• Understanding of evaluation frameworks for LLM quality and bias detection
• Contributions to open-source AI projects or published research in NLP
