Aroha is an early-stage community health surveillance platform built to detect disease outbreaks before they spread. We turn anonymous, ground-level symptom reports into actionable early warning signals for local health authorities — from the ground up, one neighbourhood at a time.
Overview As an AI Intern at Aroha, you will contribute directly to building the intelligence core of our platform. This is a hands-on role where your work will have real impact on a product designed to serve communities at scale.
Responsibilities
- Develop and experiment with anomaly detection models for symptom trend analysis
- Build and maintain NLP pipelines for processing user-reported symptom data
- Assist in geographic clustering and disease heatmap generation
- Support seasonal baseline modelling to improve outbreak signal accuracy
- Collaborate closely with the founding team on AI architecture decisions
Requirements
- Proficiency in Python and core ML/AI libraries
- Understanding of basic machine learning concepts
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Genuine interest in public health, social impact, or community-driven technology
- Prior project or research experience is an advantage
